imageDr. John Henson graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine (1984), followed by specialty training in neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (1988), in neuro-oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (1991), and in neuroradiology at Massachusetts General Hospital (2003). He was on the staff of Massachusetts General Hospital from 1991 to 2008 as associate neurologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and associate professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School. In 2008 he became director of neurology at Swedish Neuroscience Institute in Seattle. Dr. Henson has published 100 papers, reviews and book chapters in the field of neuro-oncology, neurovirology and neuroimaging. He acts as central neuroradiology reviewer for institutional and industry trials in neuro-oncology. He is president of the Washington State Neurological Society.

In 2008, Dr. Henson became editor of BrainWaves, an 18-page quarterly newsletter of the Swedish Neuroscience Institute. The newsletter focuses on advances in the treatment of neurological diseases and is circulated to a selected group of 6,000 physicians in the Pacific Northwest. He is a member of the board of directors of the Northwest Science Writers Association. He curates the ScienceWire feature of the association.
