imageLindsey Chester received her bachelor's degree from Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of Art and began a career as a fashion designer in the New York garment center in 1983. After 15 successful years working for firms including Norton McNaughton, Kellwood and Leslie Fay, she and her husband decided the cost of living in the Metro area was prohibitive to a quality lifestyle. They moved to Cary, N.C. in March 1998 to continue raising their growing family.

In Cary, Chester became involved in several community projects. She has organized and fought against several commercial developments, helped with two local political campaigns, worked on several town volunteer boards and completed the Cary School of Government course in 2008. She currently serves on the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Committee in a volunteer advisory role, and is secretary of the new Downtown Cary Children's Museum which is seeking to build a museum in Cary.

As associate publisher of CaryCitizen, Chester has organized the photographers' assignments and recruits writers for content. She writes a column called Hidden Giants, which highlights companies that locate their headquarters in Cary. She maintains the calendar of events on the site and up until now has sold all the advertisement space. The CaryCitizen's mission is to connect residents to their community.
