imageDavid Boraks is the founder and executive editor of Davidson News LLC in Davidson, N.C., which operates two local news websites: DavidsonNews.net and CorneliusNews.net. He has been a journalist for 35 years, working as an editor, writer, photographer and radio announcer/producer in the U.S. and abroad. David founded DavidsonNews.net in 2006 and also works part-time as an announcer and reporter for public radio station WFAE-FM in Charlotte. From 2001 to 2005, he covered the top U.S. banks for the daily American Banker in New York. In 2000, David was a senior correspondent for the online news service LocalBusiness.com. At The Charlotte Observer from 1993 to 2000, his duties included tech columnist, business writer and assistant features editor. Other gigs have included editing jobs at the Hartford Courant and the China News in Taipei; editor-in-chief of the Cambridge (Mass.) Chronicle, and editing and reporting for the Waterbury (Conn.) Republican American.

In 2009, DavidsonNews.net was a "Notable Entry/Honorable Mention" in the Knight-Batten Innovation Awards and David and the site received Davidson College's Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for Community Service. The site has been profiled in numerous venues, academic and news articles, including Charlotte Magazine's 2009 "Genius Issue" which recognized David among 30 people helping to change the Charlotte region. In 2011, Davidson News LLC won an honorable mention in the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year awards. David holds a Master of Arts degree in liberal studies from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn., and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.
