imageGlenn Burkins , before launching Qcitymetro.com, was deputy managing editor at The Charlotte Observer, where he had previously been business editor. He also worked as a reporter at The Wall Street Journal, where he covered the Labor Department and later the White House. He left The Philadelphia Inquirer as Africa correspondent, having covered the genocide in Rwanda, the Ebola outbreak in the former Zaire and the 1994 South Africa elections that saw Nelson Mandela elected president. Glenn was previously the Observer's personal finance columnist. After a year-long internship at the Los Angeles Times, Glenn began his career as a business reporter at the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, where he covered Florida tourism and other business topics. He received his B.A. in journalism at the University of South Carolina (the "other USC").
