Mark Vasché is editor and senior vice president of The Modesto Bee, a 75,000-circulation, award-winning McClatchy Newspaper in California's San Joaquin Valley. During his career with The Bee, Vasché has served in a variety of positions, including reporter, features editor, Sunday editor and metro editor. He served as the paper's managing editor for 12 years before being named editor in 1997. Under his leadership, The Bee's news operation has won more than 100 regional, state and national awards. It has been honored as the best mid-sized newspaper in California and Modbee.com has been honored as the best mid-sized newspaper Web site in both California and the nation. Vasché is a two-time past president of the California Society of Newspaper Editors. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in journalism.
