Martin Langeveld is an independent consultant and blogger, currently part of the blogging group at niemanlab.org for the Nieman Journalism Foundation at Harvard University. Langeveld was first introduced to the newspaper field as an advertising sales representative for UpCountry, a 425,000-circulation monthly supplement published by the Eagle Publishing Group in Pittsfield, Mass. He later served as promotions director, marketing director and then chief operating officer of Eagle Publishing. Langeveld then became publisher and general manager of New England Newspapers, Inc., leading the development of four daily newspapers in western New England: The Berkshire Eagle, North Adams Transcript, Bennington Banner and the Brattleboro Reformer. Langeveld holds a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master's degree from Cornell University.
