Fellow for News Entrepreneur Boot Camp

Tim Collie is a former South Florida Sun-Sentinel senior writer, where he has been a projects reporter producing print and online work on the Caribbean and the Middle East for 11 years. As a foreign correspondent and editor, Collie won the 2003 Overseas Press Club Award for a special project on Haiti's political and economic woes titled "The Eroding Nation." This project also anticipated the collapse of the Aristide government in 2004, which he covered. Collie also reported special sections on AIDS in the Caribbean, which won an Inter-American Press Association Feature Writing Award. He has also been honored with the 2004 Florida Press Club's 1st place in explanatory writing, the 2007 Florida Society of Newspaper Editors' 1st place in explanatory writing and the 2007 NABJ Writing Excellence Award. Collie holds dual bachelor's degrees in English literature and journalism from the University of Toledo and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Michigan.
