imageEmily Lowrey has trained hundreds of community newspapers on how to sell and service digital revenue products in roles at CNHI, GateHouse Media and American Consolidated Media. She was formerly the director of online operations at the Buffalo News, where her team executed a successful daily deal launch, revamped a community news site and launched a shopping site for local independent businesses. With a bit of previous start-up experience under her belt from BuffaloRising.com (Hyper Local Media, LLC), she left the corporate newspaper world in the summer of 2011 and is now working with a team of five people on a profitable early-stage start-up in Birmingham, Ala. Her company, Magic City Media, has a soft news site at MagicCityPost.com and a string of local shopping sites in partnership with Chambers of Commerce and community organizations that are housed under ShopBirmingham.com. She has a B.A. in mass communication from Jacksonville State University and an Executive M.B.A. from the University at Buffalo.
